Fermata (Pause) – Managing Failure

In all this talk of music, scales and chords, I realized that none of this would make any sense if you don’t take a step forward.

Let’s FERMATA for a moment… And think about it….

Let’s say that you want to learn to play by ear, and you’ve come to a place where you know all the scales, all the chords, all the intervals in all 12 keys, and you still can’t GET IT! What do you do? Should you give up? Should you quit after 10 times? Or 100? Or 1000 ? NO! It’s not an option!

When James Dyson was building his bagless vacuum, he experienced a lot of failure. But he didn’t quit! He built 5,126 prototypes that did not work.  He had 5126 examples of what NOT to do. But his 5,127th vacuum became the first of millions of vacuums that did work!

So should you quit?

NO! Just FERMATA and keep Playing It By Ear!

Today is another opportunity to Play It By Ear

  1. Great post – sustaining your momentum in what you are doing – just like in business, music needs your constant attention to succeed. 🙂 Big smiles, Coach Donna Laree, Business Mentor

  2. Playing by ear is such a valuable skill. Even when I was playing for hours everyday I was never able to play by ear…

It’s been years since I really studied music like that… I think I may take a refresher theory course in the near future… if I cant be able to play by ear it would be awesome to at least be a proficient sight reader 🙂

    Best of luck to you!

  3. This is great motivation. Love the numbers…5,126 failures lead to over 1,000,000 sold! Sounds like a winning ratio to me. Keep moving forward. Great job partner.

  4. Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to be aware of.
I say to you, I certainly get irked while people
think about worries that they just do not know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined
out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
